A Beautiful Summer Equine Photoshoot | Daisy's Equine Photography Session
A Beautiful Summer Equine Photoshoot | Daisy's Equine Photography Session
- FIONA MOORE PHOTOGRAPHY -
There's something truly special about summer equine photoshoots. The beautiful summer coats, long grass, bright Summer colour and relaxed atmosphere create the perfect setting for capturing beautiful memories with your horses.
On a beautifully warm June morning, I met up with Daisy and her partner Dan for a relaxed photoshoot alongside Daisy's wonderful family of horses.
From striking black background horse portraits to dreamy outdoor images of her mare and foal, this session perfectly showcased everything a summer equine photography session can offer.
Black Background Portraits for the Boys
We began the session with the boys' glamour shots.
Black background portraits are always a favourite, creating timeless, elegant images that keep all the focus on your horse's expression, form and personality.
As well as photographing each gelding individually, we also created a few group portraits, giving Daisy a beautiful collection of images of her trio together.
Natural Summer Horse Portraiture
After the studio-style portraits, we headed out into Daisy's paddocks to capture each horse in a more natural setting.
Summer provides some of my favourite conditions for equine photography; lush greenery, bright Summer colours and plenty of space for horses to relax, resulting in authentic portraits that feel full of life.
A Sweet Mare & Foal Photoshoot
With the geldings settled back in their stables, it was time to find Lexie and Ozzie, which is when we discovered Ozzie enjoying a little pre-photoshoot nap, which was every bit as adorable as it sounds
Once he had decided it was time to get up, we brought Lexie and Ozzie over for their black background portraits. Mare and foal sessions always come with a little unpredictability, foals aren't quite as patient or poseable as older horses, but that's all part of the fun.
By working with Ozzie's curiosity and energy, rather than against it, we created some beautiful Black Background Portraits of both Lexie, Ozzie & Daisy too.
Dreamy Summer Foal Photography
To finish the session, we headed into a paddock filled with long grass and wildflowers, an idyllic setting for a mare and foal photoshoot.
With plenty of room to play, Ozzie showed off his playful personality, charging around, showing his athleticism (which was pretty impressive for just 4 weeks old!) and keeping everyone smiling at his lively antics.
These foal portraits & natural moments often become the most treasured photographs, capturing them exactly as they are, to remember their early years before they grow up.
A photoshoot session like this perfectly highlights why summer is one of the favourite times of year for horse photography. The combination of beautiful scenery, beautiful colour and horses looking their very best, create truly timeless images that you'll love looking back on for years to come.
